Description

“The WLN30 is an intelligent NMEA multiplexer with WiFi designed to connect your smartphone and other wireless devices to your boat's navigation systems. It has three NMEA0183 inputs and easy web interface configuration.”

DESCRIPTION

Digital Yacht's new WLN30 Smart NMEA Mutiplexer with WiFi takes iPad integration and tablet integration even further afloat. This gives you the option of connecting to existing GPS, AIS and instrument systems and wirelessly transferring data to an iPad or tablet. For this we offer apps that are displayed and calculated with real-time information. The WLN30 creates a secure, password-protected WiFi network on board to load the boat with data.

For example, when connected to an AIS system , real-time AIS target positions and identity data are displayed on detailed electronic maps. This is done through compatible apps like NavLink, TimeZero, iAIS, iSailor, Seapilot and hundreds more. This turns the tablet into a fully-fledged navigation display.

The new WLN30 has three NMEA0183 inputs and one NMEA0183 output that can be programmed at 4800 or 38400 baud rates via its simple browser interface. The data received at the three inputs are mixed together. They are then bundled and transmitted to all wireless devices connected to the WLN30's wireless network. The same multiplexed data is also available on the NMEA 0183 output or in alternate mode. This allows data from the wireless application, such as next waypoint or autopilot data, to be relayed to other NMEA 0183 devices.

The entire configuration of the WLN30 can be done via its own simple web interface. To do this, simply open your web browser. Then enter the IP address of the WLN30 and you can set baud rates, multiplexing mode, network name, password and AP mode. No complicated programming software or app is required. You even have the option of viewing the received NMEA data in the web browser to identify problems more easily.

The WLN30 supports TCP and UDP network protocols for maximum compatibility with apps. If you want full two-way control on autopilot with guaranteed data integrity, or want to be the only person receiving the data, then choose TCP. However, if you want to receive the same data on multiple devices, for example a PC at the chart table and an iPad on deck, then choose the UDP transmission protocol.

With three NMEA0183 inputs you can also use our SeaTalk to NMEA adapter to network SeaTalk instrument data directly to the WLN30 or our iKonvert gateway to connect NMEA 2000 data. In addition, it now also works with the popular Navionics Boating app for Apple iOS and Android to display GPS and AIS data on your Navionics charts.

FAQS

Do I need an internet connection to use the WLN30?
No internet connection is required. Unfortunately, many consumers automatically associate WiFi with the Internet. The WLN30 creates a WiFi network and the local iPad or tablet user searches for it the same way they search for a WiFi hotspot. Once connected, the NMEA data is sent over the local link onboard the boat.

How many devices can connect?
Up to 7 devices can connect via UDP. TCP/IP is a one-to-one connection format. PCs, MACs, Android and iOS are all compatible.

Where can I find compatible apps?
Simply search for iOS or Android on www.digitalyacht.net and you will find our latest reviews. Popular apps include iRegatta, iNavX, NMEA Remote, iAIS, NavLink, iSailor, SeaPilot, Weather 4D, MaxSea TimeZero, AIS View and literally hundreds more.

What is the difference between the WLN30 and the old WLN20?
It's an all new chipset with improved performance, fully opto-isolated inputs and outputs, web interface for programming SSID, passwords and baud rate for easier hiding and installing. It's also super competitive and has three entrances instead of two.

Are there other models in the series?
The WLN10 Smart with an NMEA 0183 input/output is available for simpler systems or if you already have a multiplexer, whilst our SeaTalk to NMEA interface can also be used to provide SeaTalk 1 connectivity or our convert gateway for NMEA 2000 data to offer.

I already have a WiFi router on board - can I connect the WLN30 Smart to an existing network?
Yes! You can program this via the web interface so you only have one WiFi network on board with the WLN30 connected directly to the as a client. This works well with Furuno WiFi radars.
