Connect your PC to the NMEA 2000® bus. The NGT-1 is an intelligent NMEA 2000 gateway capable of accurately transferring messages to and from the NMEA 2000 bus. It is compatible with a wide range of chart plotters, display and configuration applications for PCs. The diagnostic NMEA Reader software allows NMEA 2000 messages to be viewed with configuration options, enabling some Actisense products on the NMEA 2000 bus to be set up.

The Actisense NGT-1 is an NMEA 2000-certified gateway device that enables software applications to both read and send NMEA 2000 messages in a protected environment. The galvanic isolation and firewall capabilities of the NGT-1 place it in a unique position as a computer interface to NMEA 2000. Actisense is committed to supporting software developers in creating a wide range of NMEA 2000-enabled applications for PC, Mac and Linux. The initial list includes chart plotter, vessel monitoring, data logging and Ethernet server applications that can display NMEA 2000 data and/or share their own NMEA 2000 data with other devices on the network. Below you will find the current list of software that is either already compatible with the Actisense NGT-1 or for which compatibility is being worked on. The table indicates the development status of each software application to clarify the current compatibility position (the phase key is given below the table). Actisense recommends that its customers check with the software developers whether both the NGT-1-USB and NGT-1-ISO versions of the gateway device are supported. Please contact Actisense if you are a software developer looking for a cost-effective way to integrate NMEA 2000 and the NGT-1 into your software package. Note: This compatibility list is currently being recompiled due to a new version of the Actisense Software Development Kit (SDK) and the NGT-1 firmware. Software developers who have contacted Actisense since the release of the new software to confirm successful operation will be added back to this list. If your software is not listed, please contact the developer directly to inquire about progress in implementing the new SDK and NGT-1 firmware.

Progress stages:
[1] Collaboration between Actisense and the software developer has been agreed.
[2] The software developer has released a beta version that supports the Actisense NGT-1. [3] The beta version has been tested by Actisense and confirmed to work (in beta form). [4] The software developer has released a full version that supports the Actisense NGT-1. [5] The full version has been tested by Actisense and confirmed to work. Once the Actisense NGT-1 is certified as a 'Third Party Gateway' (TPG) (the specification is currently being finalized by the NMEA), Actisense will be able to carry out the NMEA 2000 certification tests for the software applications listed above. If it is demonstrated that the combination of NGT-1 and software application has not compromised the NMEA 2000 certification of the NGT-1 during the required tests, Actisense can apply for NMEA 2000 certification on behalf of the software developer. The NMEA will then issue a certificate stating that the software is 'NMEA 2000 Approved for use with an Actisense NGT-1'.
