LiFePO4
As safe as lithium can be
When using LiFePo4 lithium cells, safety is the top priority. Due to the composite structure, the cells are thermally and chemically stable and do not deform, which is why they cannot ignite or explode. They are therefore considered the safest and most durable lithium cells on the market. They offer the most reliable cycle numbers, are safe for the user and better for the environment by not using cobalt.

Materials rethought with glass fiber and ceramic
BOS has invested in the development of a special material that enables the battery to withstand all kinds of challenges. The casing of the battery consists of recycled materials (i.e. recycled plastic) in combination with a high glass fiber content. In load-bearing parts, this is up to 35%. The advantages of this material include its low thickness and low weight. The additional ceramic ensures even heat distribution.

Modern battery management system
The BOS battery S has a powerful battery management system (BMS), which monitors the charging cycles and the capacity of the battery. The aim is to fully understand each battery and thus avoid problems. The numerous intelligent sensors with which the battery is equipped aim to detect the state of health (SoH) of the battery and combine the batteries according to their performance.

Unlimited communication
The BOS battery S offers unprecedented compatibility with the latest communication protocols. As standard, the BMS communicates all data points via the BOS bus, a protocol that is based on CanOpen and is therefore compatible. Communication with any other protocol is possible via the built-in JAE MX80 ports by simply adding a hidden hardware extension module. Alternatively, communication with other languages and connections such as USB or RJ45 can be achieved using the external BOS connect products. Communication is already possible with optional configurations for RV-C, CanOpen, SFC CanOpen, Victron CAN BMS and analog voltage signals. Bluetooth and many more will be possible in the future. This means that the possibilities for deep system integration are almost limitless.

Hybrid technology enables the combination of lithium and lead
The BOS battery S can be used in combination with lead batteries. The mode of the battery management system can be quickly switched from pure lithium mode to the patented hybrid mode. The default settings specify that the existing lead-acid battery is used as a backup power source during daily operation. During peak discharges, the intelligent BOS battery S uses the capacity of both the lead-acid and lithium battery in hybrid mode to optimize performance.

Basically, the system is designed for 12V. To set up systems with voltages of 24V (min. 2 x Battery S) or 48V (min. 4 x Battery S), a different charge controller is required. System voltage must be specified before ordering.
