The deep V-hulls of modern sports boats are designed to provide a smooth ride in rough water. The sharper the deadrise, the greater the need for trim tabs to maintain a straight heading. Roll and lateral heel depend on the wind and the positioning of the passengers. Longitudinal pitch, also known as trim attitude, depends on speed and load. When the course changes, the wind direction changes too, requiring the boat to be re-trimmed. If passengers change their seating positions, re-trimming is also necessary. This need to constantly adjust the trim attitude to changing load conditions distracts the skipper unnecessarily and therefore poses a safety risk at high speeds.

The Mente Marine ACS RP (Roll and Pitch) fully automatic trim tab control automatically adjusts the boat to an optimum trim attitude relative to the longitudinal axis by eliminating roll. Semi-displacement hulls in particular tend to keep the bow up at high speeds. The pitch axis control improves visibility and allows driving in the semi-displacement range. It also improves acceleration. This is particularly suitable for larger boats.

Turn Detection
During turning maneuvers, the boat leans into the turn. The system features a built-in gyro that detects these turning maneuvers. Therefore, no trim attitude corrections are performed during a turn. This prevents unnecessary trim adjustments automatically, allowing the boat to exit the turn in an optimal trim position. The AUTO LED indicator flashes when the system detects a turn and holds the trim attitude. Once a stable straight course is resumed, the new trim attitude is measured, and the Mente Marine ACS system corrects the trim based on the updated conditions.
Adaptive System
The Mente Marine ACS system adapts to boats of all sizes. Thanks to this adaptive behavior, the boat can run at an optimum trim attitude, taking into account differences in boat size and trim tab operation.
The system also detects varying sea states. In calm water, the system corrects faster than in rough seas. This enables a rapid response when necessary and prevents unnecessary trim tab movements in high waves.
Displacement Speed
When falling below planing speed, the trim tabs lose their effectiveness. The Mente Marine ACS detects this operating state and does not attempt to make corrections while in displacement mode. During the acceleration phase, the Mente Marine ACS system automatically activates and corrects the trim attitude even before the boat gets "over the hump".
The AUTO indicator flashes during displacement speed. The flashing indicates that the automatic mode is active but temporarily suspended due to the slow speed.
Automatic / Manual Mode
The automatic button is used to set the operating mode of the Mente Marine ACS system. A short press of the automatic button switches between automatic and manual mode.
In automatic mode, the boat's trim attitude is adjusted automatically, provided that the indicator lights up steadily. If the indicator flashes, the automatic mode is locked while the boat takes a sharp turn or runs at displacement speed.
Naturally, the automatic system can be turned off to use the panel as a manual control pad. This is useful, for example, when driving in rough water to trim the bow even lower for a more comfortable ride.
