Ideal for: Emergency antenna, backup antenna, kayaks, dinghies, life rafts, jet skis & inflatable boats
The GALAXY INFL8-5 from Shakespeare is the world’s first emergency antenna with the performance worthy of the GALAXY name. It is an inflatable antenna that can be quickly deployed via a CO2 cartridge or a manual tube and inflates to 1.6 m (5 ft) to provide a full 3dB antenna with up to three times the range of any existing helical emergency antenna. Thanks to its inflatable design, the antenna can be deflated and safely stored in its easily accessible storage bag until needed again.
The antenna can be quickly and easily attached in any weather to supports, outriggers, or other vertical structures on board using its hook-and-loop straps. The antenna also features eyelets at the top and bottom, making it easy to suspend and secure to spreaders, masts, hardtops, and other structures, even if the inflatable bladder is damaged.
The connectors included in the package allow for versatile connection options. The soldered PL-259 connector enables direct connection to a fixed-mount VHF radio or, via the included SMA adapter, to a handheld device. The package also includes a solderless UHF female connector, allowing the antenna to be spliced into existing coaxial cables on the boat.
