Description
SmartFind G8 EPIRB
SmartFind E8 - the highlights of the new EPIRB:
-
EPIRB with three SAR (search and rescue) frequencies, the SmartFind G8 AIS supports reporting, locating, tracking and rescue:
- 406 MHz: emergency frequency of the global COSPAS-SARSAT rescue system
- 121.5 MHz: Direction finding frequency of the flight task forces
- GNSS: Precise GPS coordinates by receiving 72 satellites (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS)
- Battery life of 10 years (storage)
- User-changeable battery
- Triggering of the EPIRB manually and automatically on contact with water
- Faster emergency detection via the 406 MHz frequency through MEOSAR compatibility
- McMurdo has a global service network and is the only EPIRB manufacturer in the world that is also building the Cospas-Sarsat and MEOSAR infrastructure
Innovation comes as standard with McMurdo SmartFind EPIRBs, with heavy-duty housings, easy battery service and MEOSAR compatibility. The additional protection against accidental triggering and multiple self-tests bring maximum user confidence. With a unique heritage in the marine market, a commitment to quality and a long history of innovation, customers know they can count on McMurdo when their lives are in jeopardy.

Part of the McMurdo system |
Engineered with McMurdo's unique understanding of the technical requirements to best utilize the Cospas-Sarsat system |
- Recommendation - 1 test per month over 10 years. Long tests twice a year over 10 years. Carry out long tests in the open air. Obstacles increase the time it takes to determine a GPS position, which in turn reduces battery life. Long tests can only be carried out if the function of the GNSS receiver appears questionable.
- Warranty is 1 year from date of purchase, additional 4 years when registered with McMurdo. An additional year is granted for a 5-year security check.
McMurdo recommends the 5-year safety check. Shore-based maintenance maintenance, battery checks or replacements should be carried out in accordance with the flag state administration and should not exceed 5 years.
Programming:
Each EPIRB must be programmed with the MMSI of the vessel it is providing security on. Until further notice we will take over the programming for you free of charge . To do this, we need the allocation document from you, which shows the MMSI. We will contact you after you have placed your order, or you can send us the document directly by e-mail (scanned) after you have placed your order.
