Description

Raymarine - QUANTUM 2

Raymarine's QUANTUM 2 CHIRP pulse compression radar with Doppler collision avoidance technology offers you extra safety at long as well as at extremely short distances.

Due to the special processing of the Doppler radar data, it is possible to show moving targets in color on the display.

Easily identify potential targets

Raymarine's QUANTUM 2 Doppler target processing ensures that moving radar contacts are colour-coded. This makes it clear at a glance whether the target is approaching or receding. This leads to a reduced risk of collision.

Superior collision avoidance

Doppler-enabled MARPA provides effortless tracking of dangerous targets by eliminating the need for safe zone setup. Raymarine MARPA target tracking uses the same proven technology used by the US Coast Guard.

Main features:

  • The Doppler display for moving targets provides excellent situational awareness at a glance
  • Fully automatic ARPA target tracking along with manual MARPA mode
  • Adjustable True Trails target history shows movement history of moving contacts
  • CHIRP pulse compression detects contacts as close as 18 feet while navigating with zero visibility
  • 24-mile range for early detection of traffic, navaids, landfall and weather
  • Instant recognition - QUANTUM starts up and is operational within seconds
  • Superior interference rejection eliminates noise from other radars
  • Simplified installation with Wi-Fi
  • Easy upgrade - QUANTUM 2 fits the same screw system as other Raymarine radar scanners
  • Lightweight and easy to install - QUANTUM weighs up to 50% less than comparable magnetron radars
  • Safe emissions - QUANTUM can be mounted anywhere on board
  • Low power consumption for longer battery life when the sails are set

How does a Doppler radar work?

Microwave energy waves bounce off a distant target, just like conventional radar.

Moving targets return echoes whose frequencies vary up or down from the original transmission.

As targets get closer, the frequency increases because the leading edge of the returned echoes is received more frequently as the target range decreases.

As targets recede, the frequency decreases as the returned echo spreads out as range increases.

Doppler radars are designed to detect these small changes in wave frequency to use to define moving radar targets.

The Doppler radar is specially tuned to distinguish frequency shifts in the radar return. In this way, a moving target can be distinguished from a stationary target based on the returned echo. Clear color codes then indicate whether they are approaching or moving away.

Incoming destinations are marked in red .

Outgoing targets are green .

The use of color codes makes it easy to distinguish moving traffic from other stationary targets such as land, navaids or stationary/anchored ships.

Fully automatic target acquisition and tracking

The QUANTUM 2 also features fully automatic target acquisition and tracking. Configure custom security and alert zones and be alerted to new radar contacts entering the zone.

QUANTUM 2 automatically begins tracking these contacts, calculating their course, speed, closest point of approach (CPA), and more. You are warned of dangerous targets with an audible alarm and easy-to-understand on-screen graphics.

QUANTUM 2 features Raymarine's new True Trails target history display. True Trails capabilities allow you to see the course of the "tail wave" behind any moving target. This additional information makes it even easier to navigate in busy ship traffic environments, interpreting the movement of other vessels and making intelligent navigation decisions for safety to meet passing.

QUANTUM 2 has very low power consumption, which makes it particularly attractive for ships that only run on batteries. QUANTUM 2 with Doppler radar can be installed using traditional wired configuration or connected to your Raymarine MFD using built-in Wi-Fi technology.
