Victron Energy 's Cyrix-Li-Ct 12/24V-230A battery coupler (MPN CYR010230412) for 12V and 24V LiFePO4 batteries or lead-acid starter batteries. It can work with a maximum current of 230A and is, among other things, an ideal addition to the VE.Bus BMS as a battery switch for loads that the VE.Bus BMS cannot switch independently.

Function of the Cyrix battery couplers in general

The Cyrix-Li-Ct 12/24V-230A is a high performance microprocessor controlled relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a predetermined voltage level (indicating that the battery is being charged) and disconnects the batteries from each other disconnects when the voltage falls below the float voltage level (indicating that one or both batteries are in the process of being discharged). Cyrix battery couplers are ideal for replacing isolating diodes. Their main feature is that there is practically no loss of voltage, so there is no need to increase the output voltage of the alternators or battery chargers.

How the Cyrix-Li-Ct 12/24V 230A works

The functionality of the Cyrix-Li-Ct 12/24V 230A corresponds to that of the Cyrix-Ct.

The Cyrix-Li-Ct connects a lead-acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 battery:

  1. if the "Charge Disconnect" output of the VE. Bus BMS is high
  2. if it measures 13.4 V (or 26.8 V) or more on its power connections

The Cyrix-Ct switches off immediately:

  1. when its control output reaches the "free floating" (open circuit) state
  2. when its control output indicates cell overvoltage or cell overtemperature
  3. when the battery voltage falls below 13.2 V

Start Assist function: a short positive pulse closes the relay for 30 seconds (see figure on page 2). A built-in TVS diode limits the voltage spike that can occur if the Cyrix suddenly shuts down due to cell overvoltage or overtemperature.

Cyrix-Li-Ct as a perfect complement to the VE.Bus BMS
