The VCC 1212-50 from Votronic (3326) is a fully automatic, uninsulated battery charging converter for special vehicles, high-end motorhomes, and boats. The charging converter (booster) of the "VCC" series has been developed according to the latest specifications for the mobile charging of supply batteries (living space/on-board batteries) from the alternator (starter battery) while driving. The device ensures a full IU1oU2 charging characteristic even while driving. The maximum charging current of the VCC 1212-50 is 50A, and it can operate with lead-acid, gel, AGM1, AGM2, and LiFePO4 batteries. This device charges a 12V battery from a 12V battery/alternator.

In contrast to the conventional cut-off relay, the charging voltage is lowered or raised according to the charging program specifications, making it particularly suitable for EURO standard 6, 6 + plus vehicles.

Universally applicable all-rounder

For on-board batteries with traditional lead-acid, lead-gel, or lead-AGM technology, as well as modern lithium LiFePO4 technology, the eight selectable charging programs ensure unmonitored, rapid, and gentle full charging from any charge level, followed by full battery maintenance and care. Even on short journeys, the battery is charged at full charging current. Connected 12 V consumers are automatically supplied, even when the on-board power system is under heavy load. Automatic power control ensures the necessary safety and starting capability of the vehicle.

  • The VCC 1212-50 is a B2B charger without galvanic isolation for charging 12V batteries from a 12V alternator/battery.
  • Max. charging current: 50A, input voltage range 12V, charges 12V batteries, recommended battery capacity: 75 - 440Ah
  • Increases or decreases the voltage to the required level to precisely charge the on-board battery with the optimal charging characteristic.
  • It completely compensates for line losses and voltage fluctuations in the alternator, which constantly occur to a considerable extent in Euro 6 vehicles (intelligent alternators).
  • Characterized by its compact design, low weight (high-frequency switch mode technology) and powerful power components for safe operation.
  • Significantly improved energy balance of the onboard battery. No interference with the starter circuit; the device acts like a powerful consumer on the alternator.
  • The supplied 12 V consumers are protected against overvoltage and voltage fluctuations.
  • The charging voltage is free of peaks and regulated in such a way that overcharging of the batteries is impossible.
  • Fully automatic operation: The device is constantly connected to the batteries and is automatically activated by the vehicle's running alternator. The batteries are not discharged when the engine is not running.
  • Parallel and buffer operation: When both devices are used simultaneously, the battery continues to be charged or maintained at full capacity. The device automatically calculates and monitors the charging times.
  • Unmonitored charging: Multiple protection against overload, overheating, overvoltage, short circuit, malfunction and battery back discharge through electronic regulation up to complete separation of device and battery.
  • Built-in on-board power supply filter: Trouble-free parallel operation with other charging sources (EBL, chargers, engine and fuel generators, solar systems) on one battery.
  • Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically compensated.
  • Connection for battery temperature sensor (sensor included).
  • For lead batteries (acid, gel, AGM), the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature. This ensures better full charging of the weaker battery in cold weather and prevents unnecessary battery gassing in summer temperatures.
  • LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high temperatures and, in particular, adapted charging at low temperatures below 0°C. Charging assistance for deeply discharged lead batteries: Gentle pre-charging of the (lead-acid, gel, AGM) battery to 8 V, followed by powerful battery support when other devices are still connected.
  • Also ensures automatic activation of a LiFePO4 battery that is disconnected from the BMS.

What added value does using a B2B charging converter offer me?

The charging converters ensure optimal and rapid charging of the supply battery from the alternator while driving. In contrast to a simple cut-off relay, the charging voltage is increased to the value required for a full charge for the respective battery type and specified by the battery manufacturer. This allows the full charging current to flow, charging considerable amounts of current into the battery in a short time. Long charging lines and losses, as well as voltage fluctuations at the alternator, are cleanly regulated. With charging converters with different input and output voltages (12V/24V or 24V/12V), the simple charging of a second battery is possible even without installing a second alternator.
