The VOTRONIC Automatic Chargers, which are equipped with the latest charging technology and are designed for all commercially available lead-acid batteries (see the chapter on charging technology), ensure that the battery is charged correctly. The peripheral devices from VOTRONIC, which work in the background and ensure automated charge control and battery monitoring, ensure the correct handling of the batteries in daily operation.
In mobile homes, boats, emergency vehicles, etc., the batteries must also supply energy when the vehicle is stationary. Therefore, several batteries are usually installed in these vehicles, which are used separately for driving and stationary operation.
A distinction is made between starter and supply battery(s). As the name suggests, one battery is responsible for reliably starting the vehicle, while the other(s) take over the supply of the electrical devices in the vehicle. To ensure that each battery circuit works reliably and that the vehicle's electrical concept works, various devices are used to control the charge while driving.

Stand-by charger
The VOTRONIC StandBy-Charger is used for automatic recharging and charge maintenance of the starter battery or the additional battery if the mains charger, the solar charge controller or the generator only has one charging output. The device can be easily retrofitted by simply switching between the on-board battery and the starter battery or the on-board battery and the auxiliary battery, without having to change the existing wiring.
If, for example, the mains charger is in operation and charging the on-board battery, the second battery (starter battery or additional battery) is also charged with a small part of the charging current, depending on the charging status. This trickle charge works automatically and can be recognized by an increased voltage level of the second battery. Overcharging of the second battery is impossible because the charging voltage is reduced by at least 0.6V and the charging current is limited to 3A (24V variant: 2A).
Make sure that both batteries have the same nominal battery voltage of 12 V / 12 V or 24 V / 24 V, since mixed operation with 12 V and 24 V is not possible.
The stand-by charger is only suitable for use with lead batteries (acid / gel / AGM technology), not for the combination of LiFePO4 and lead (starter) batteries.
Also available in boat version with moisture-proof electronics !
