The deep V-hulls of modern sports boats are designed to provide you with a smooth ride in rough water. The greater the deadrise, the more necessary it becomes to maintain straight tracking with trim tabs. Rolling and lateral list depend on the wind and the position of the passengers. Longitudinal inclination, also called trim attitude, depends on speed and load. When changing course, the wind direction also changes and the boat must be re-trimmed. If passengers change position, trimming must also be adjusted again. This constant need to adapt the trim attitude to changing load conditions unnecessarily distracts the helmsman and therefore represents a safety risk at high speeds.

The Mente Marine ACS RP (Roll and Pitch) fully automatic trim tab control automatically sets the boat to an optimal trim attitude in relation to the longitudinal axis by eliminating list. Semi-planing boats in particular tend to keep the bow high at speed. The transverse axis control improves visibility and enables operation in the semi-planing range. In addition, acceleration is improved. This is particularly suitable for large boats.

Turn detection
During turning manoeuvres, the boat heels toward the inside of the turn. A gyroscope is built into the system that detects such turning manoeuvres. Therefore, trim attitude corrections are not carried out while turning. Unnecessary trim attitude corrections are thus automatically prevented by the system, and the boat exits the turn with an optimal trim attitude. The AUTO LED indicator flashes when the system detects a turn and does not change the trim attitude. Once a stable straight course is resumed, the new trim attitude is measured and the Mente Marine ACS system corrects the trim attitude according to the changed conditions.
Adaptive system
The Mente Marine ACS system adapts to boats of all sizes. Thanks to the adaptive system, the boat can run with an optimal trim attitude while taking into account differences in size and trim tab operation.
Different sea states are also detected by the system. In calm water, the system corrects faster than in rough seas. This enables a quick response when necessary and prevents unnecessary trim tab movements in high waves.
Displacement mode
Below planing speed, the trim tabs lose their effect. The Mente Marine ACS detects this operating condition and does not attempt to correct in displacement mode. During the acceleration phase, the Mente Marine ACS system automatically becomes active and corrects the trim attitude even before the boat is “over the hump.”
The AUTO indicator flashes during displacement mode. The flashing indicates that automatic mode is active, but is temporarily not being used due to the low speed.
Automatic/manual mode
The automatic button is used to set the operating mode of the Mente Marine ACS system. A short press of the automatic button switches between automatic and manual mode.
In automatic mode, the trim attitude of the boat is adjusted automatically, provided that the indicator is illuminated. If the indicator flashes, automatic mode is locked while the boat is making a sharp turn and during displacement mode.
Of course, the automatic function can be switched off and the panel used as a manual control unit, which can be useful, for example, in rough water in order to trim the bow even lower and thereby make the ride more comfortable.
