Actisense WGX-1-ISOWiFi NMEA 0183 - NMEA 2000 Gateway and PC Interface (ISO connection)
WGX-1 NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000® to Wi-Fi Gateway
The WGX-1 is an intelligent NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 WiFi gateway with bidirectional conversion functionality.
Transfer data from an NMEA 2000 backbone to any device (e.g. laptop, tablet or smartphone) connected to the WGX-1 via Wi-Fi, and additionally convert data bidirectionally between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 using Actisense's renowned conversion engine. The WGX also functions as a wired gateway, enabling the transfer or conversion of data between existing NMEA 0183/NMEA2000 instruments. Actisense-i is a range of diagnostic tools and a health checker for your network, supplied free with the product. Logging of NMEA 2000 data is also possible when an SD card is inserted (not included).
The WGX-1 can be used as a conversion gateway between legacy NMEA 0183 systems and NMEA 2000 networks, as a transfer interface for NMEA 2000 data between network and PC, and also as a wireless gateway for streaming NMEA data to peripheral devices.
Converting existing devices
A common scenario for a WGX is connecting older NMEA 0183 devices to modern NMEA 2000 systems.
A perfect example is a vessel with NMEA 0183 GPS, wind and depth sensors, but also an NMEA 2000 network with MFDs. To transfer the NMEA 0183 data to the MFD, the data must be converted and output as NMEA 2000 PGNs.
The WGX receives, converts and transmits NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data bidirectionally.
The WGX costs only a fraction of an NMEA 2000 GPS. Save money, time and space by using a WGX and leaving your existing equipment in place.
Connecting to a PC
Onboard computers running chart applications are becoming increasingly common. To transfer data into these NMEA 2000 programs, an interface between the NMEA 2000 network and the PC is required. The WGX transfers all data to/from an NMEA 2000 network and PC.
Many devices also require configuration on the network, which can be done via the Actisense WGX-1 (if the manufacturer specifies our gateway). Our products such as EMU-1, NGW-1 and NGX-1 are configured via the Actisense Toolkit, which can be done with a WGX-1.
Wireless connectivity
Demand for wireless connections is increasing, and with it the number of wireless applications. Requirements vary, ranging from wireless data transfer to a secondary device/display through to remote connectivity and monitoring of vessels and their logs.
The Actisense WGX-1 Wireless Gateway is an ideal, cost-effective and ready-to-use solution that requires only minimal configuration.
A common scenario with the WGX-1 is that the user needs a connection to their mobile phone/tablet to use an application such as Navionics. This is possible in just a few simple steps by setting up the WGX-1 to output NMEA 0183 via one of the data servers using TCP. The WGX-1 IP address and the data server port number are then entered into the application and the connection is established.
As the WGX-1 can function as a client (it connects as a device to an existing IP network), it can automatically be assigned an IP address (if DHCP is available). If the user has remote access to the network from their office/home, the network can be viewed by connecting to the WGX-1, with network voltage, device list and other information displayed.
The ability to convert, transfer and stream data wirelessly makes the WGX the “ultimate” gateway. Where other manufacturers require multiple products to achieve this, we do it with one cost-effective, highly intelligent product.
