Votronic 3063 StandBy Charger Pro 12V

The Votronic Pro 12V Standby Charger is used for the automatic recharging and maintenance charging of the starter battery in vehicles with two battery circuits. Unlike conventional standby chargers, the Pro Standby Charger features an adjustable undervoltage limit at the input, thus preventing the battery from being completely discharged. If the input battery is being charged via, for example, a mains charger, a solar system, or similar, the output battery is charged to the previously set voltage at a maximum current of 8 A.

The trickle charge function operates automatically and is indicated by an increased voltage in the starter battery. The charger is connected between the input and output batteries and features two independent 12V control inputs: "EN" for activation and "DIS" for deactivation. The adjustable cutoff voltage of 12-14V prevents deep discharge of the input battery. Using the standby charger can significantly extend the battery's lifespan.

Compared to the 3065 or 6065 standby charger

Modern lithium (LiFePO4) batteries have a significantly higher open-circuit voltage compared to starter batteries (lead-acid, AGM). Using simple, unregulated, and uncontrolled standby chargers can lead to the complete discharge of the lithium auxiliary battery. Therefore, the standard standby charger (part no. 3065 or 6065) is unfortunately unsuitable for these batteries. The Votronic StandBy Charger Pro, on the other hand, features an adjustable low-voltage cutoff at its input. Charging is interrupted if the voltage falls below this threshold. This allows it to be used without problems with a modern lithium (LiFePO4) auxiliary battery without the risk of completely discharging it.
