Traditional acid batteries, particularly lead-calcium acid batteries, have long been established in this role. They offer reliable performance and are inexpensive to purchase. However, they are more susceptible to deep discharge and have a limited lifespan compared to other battery types.
In contrast, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) starter batteries offer several advantages. They are lighter and more compact than lead-acid batteries, making them ideal for applications where weight and space are a consideration, such as in vehicles and boats. LiFePO4 batteries have a longer cycle life, a higher depth of discharge, and better performance in extreme temperatures compared to lead-acid batteries. They are also less susceptible to sulfation and have a faster charging time.
