Description

The only epirb in the world that combines the global emergency signal over 406 MHz with the strength of local location using AIS

Smartfind G8 AIS - The highlights of world first:

  • As the world's first Quadrotech® Epirb with four SAR (Search and Rescue) frequencies, supports the Smartfind G8 AIS the message, localization, persecution and rescue:
    • 406 MHz: Emergency frequency of the global cospas sarsat rescue system
    • 121.5 MHz: Review frequency of the flight operations
    • GNSS: Precise GPS coordinates by receiving 72 satellites (GPS, Galileo, Glonass)
    • AIS: Class A and Class B AIS Sender alerts other ships in several nautical miles Radius
  • Battery life of 10 years (storage)
  • Battery from the user himself interchangeable
  • Triggering the EPIRB manually and automatically when contacted with water
  • Faster emergency detection via the 406 MHz frequency through Meosar compatibility
  • McMurdo has a worldwide service network and is the only EPIRB manufacturer worldwide to build the Cospas Sarsat and Meosar Infrastructure

Why the McMurdo Smartfind G8 is unique
The basic equipment of an EPIRB includes the emergency signal transmission over 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz. Since the location is relatively imprecise (several nautical miles tolerance), it is absolutely recommended to use an EPIRB with GPS reception. Such epirbs determine their point of view with the usual, very high Gnns accuracy.

The Smartfind G8 AIS goes even further: it also sends an emergency signals!
In professional shipping, sending and receiving AIS (automatic identification system) signals internationally (so -called "class a" ais). But AIS is also widespread in sports shipping (so -called "Class B" AIS). The EPIRB's AIS signal is immediately alerted by the ships in signal range. This not only increases the overall rescue objection, it even enables immediate rescue by another ship because no "detour" is passed over the satellites and rescue centers.

  • Warranty: 1 + 4 years with 1 year extension in the security check (see 2)
  • Battery life: 10 years (lithium iron disulphide) (see 3)
  • Part of the McMurdo System: Developed with McMurdo's unique understanding of the technical requirements to best use the Cospas Sarsat System

1. Recommendation - 1 test per month over 10 years. Long tests twice a year over 10 years. Carry out long tests in the open air. Obstacles increases the time to determine the position, so that the battery life falls. Long tests can only be carried out if the function of the GNSS recipient appears questionable.

2. Warranty is 1 year from the date of purchase, additional 4 years when registering at McMurdo. At a 5-year security check, 1 year is also granted.

3. McMurdo recommends the 5-year security check. SHORE -BASED MAINTECTION WARTINGS, BATERIECHECKS or replacement should be carried out in accordance with the flag state administration and should not exceed 5 years.

Each EPIRB must be programmed off the MMSI of the ship on which it ensures safety. We will take over the programming for you until further notice free of charge. We need the certificate of allocation from which the MMSI emerges. To do this, we will contact you after your order, or you will send us the certificate directly to your order by email (scanned).
